AISIN GROUP COMPANY KONAN KOGYO TO ESTABLISH HYDROGEN STATION ~Helping to spread hydrogen energy toward realization of a hydrogen society of the future~

Konan Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Toyota, Aichi, President: Takafumi Nakano; hereinafter “Konan Kogyo), an affiliate of Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Kariya, Aichi, President: Kiyotaka Ise), will establish a hydrogen station in Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, jointly with Japan Hydrogen Station Network Joint Company (JHyM). Preparations are being made for operations to begin in April 2021.

Konan Kogyo’s core business comprises sales of petroleum and gas energy, and air-conditioning work, along with sales of Aisin Seiki’s gas heat pump air-conditioners (GHP). With an eye to the future de-carbonization of energy, the company will also drive forward entry into business that promotes the transformation from petroleum-based energy to clean energy, using the establishment of the hydrogen station as a springboard.

Furthermore, to enhance reduction of energy consumption and utilization of clean energy centered on hydrogen, Aisin Seiki and Toyota Group companies headquartered in Kariya City are considering the introduction of fuel cell electrified vehicle buses (SORA*) as commuting buses for their employees.

Based on low-carbon technologies, the Aisin Group has been making efforts to diffuse GHP, household cogeneration systems (ENE-FARM), gas engine cogeneration systems (COREMO) and other products. Regarding “curbing global warming” and “promoting the transformation to clean energy” in the SDGs as material issues, the Group will continue pushing forward with the development of energy-related products toward de-carbonization and a recycling-based society, and further enhancing its de-carbonization technologies utilizing hydrogen, thereby helping to realize a sustainable society.
